WELCOME TO YELLOW LEAF

I was gifted the name Yellow Leaf as my Trail name on a wilderness expedition during my college years many moons ago. When it was given to me, we were in the backcountry of the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota/Canada region. It was fall and I can still remember the crispness in the air.
I can still hear the clean lake water lapping against the shoreline and being surrounded by a rainbow of fall foliage. The woman who gifted me this name said I reminded her
of the beautiful yellow leaves in the forest.

She said that I stood out within the group just as these leaves do. In my heart I thought it was a beautiful gesture but in my mind I kept thinking, “Yes, the yellow leaves are beautiful but they’re dying.
Why would someone want to give me a name of something that was on their way out, so to speak?”
I had a lot of time to think and process this during the three months of backcountry living.
I thought about what leaves symbolize to me—growth and rebirth. I thought about their purpose in nature---they are the primary way that most plants get their energy by soaking up the rays of the sun.
Through this process, they demonstrate the relationship that all living things have with nature’s energy.
Using it, repurposing the vibrational energy, we can achieve growth and rebirth.

On the other hand, the leaves die and fall each autumn. They symbolize death and sadness and how there’s a bittersweet to this process because while the leaves may fall, wither and die;
in the process they produce new soil rich in nutrients for the very same plant in which they fell from.
Beautiful.
The leaves become a part of a cycle where death is no longer the end but just
another stage on a cyclic journey.
In Curanderismo we identify this as being symbolic of the journey of the soul.

I still think of that wilderness expedition almost daily some twenty plus years later.
When I was searching for a name for my healing practice, Spirit guided me back to Yellow Leaf and this time I thought, “How perfect”. I thank you for being here and learning about this strong medicine,
from great energy and great crossroads with great guidance.

“Curanderismo is our roots. It is our medicine. It is as old as the hummingbird. It is older than Christianity. It is older than the Romans. It is the best medicine.”
~Curandero, Maestro Laurencio Nunez

In Curanderismo, we address the social, psychological, spiritual and physical needs of the people who use it with rituals and ceremonies. I learned the importance of being with nature. I learned that we all are connected---people, plants, trees, animals. Everything is alive with energy and everything has a purpose. We use herbs, feathers, crystals, eggs, flowers, songs, prayers, our healing hands and our open hearts to heal.

My offerings to honor this lineage and others are:
La Platica, Egg Limpia, Las Rosas Limpia, Bars, Reiki, and Cupping Therapy & Moxibustion.

Although I was nervous and skeptical coming into my limpia only because I wasn’t familiar with the work. I felt immediate relief and lightness after my egg limpia and found a deeper understanding of the power of being in the present connected to the heart. Hyodthi has been a truly positive impact on my life. I’m looking forward to my next limpia.
